This post includes spoilers from Stranger Things Season 2.

Netflix has officially renewed its original TV series, Stranger Things for a second season, according to Variety. Created by Matt and Ross Duffer, the TV adventure series, set in the 1980s, is a mash-up of sci-fi, fantasy, horror, and coming of age story that creates an imaginative universe by some of the 1980s greatest works of Steven Speilberg, John Carpenter, Stephen King and many others. Its ET meets The Goonies, mixed with Xandu and a dose Carrie but on a Stand By Me kind of level.

Since the first season did surprisingly well for its Netflix summer debut, being claimed as one of Netflix’s most popular original series, The Duffer Brothers have made it quite clear that they are going to be moving forward with the second season of Stranger Things, and would most likely delve into the stories of our young heroes of the first season. They most definitely would have to answer of the cliffhanger questions from the ending of season 1—like is the lovable super-powered Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown) alive, and if she is alive, is she in the Upside Down? Is the sinister Dr. Brenner (Matthew Modine) still alive in some form and if Will (Noah Schnapp) will have anymore other-dimensional monster slug incidents?

More Episodes and Their Titles

Stranger Things season 2 will have one more episode than the first, bringing the next season to 9 in total and will arrive in the summer of 2017.  The Netflix has revealed the season 2 episode titles: “Madmax,” “The Boy Who Came Back to Life,” “The Pumpkin Patch,” “The Palace,” “The Storm,” “The Polywog,” “The Secret Cabin,” “The Brain” and “The Lost Brother.”

Interestingly, these episode titles could be referencing events that have happened in the previous season; for example “The Boy Who Came Back to Life,” could be about Will being rescued from the Upside Down. It could also be a reference to another child who has returned from the dead at the beginning of season 2.

New Characters

Also, there will be new characters adding to this adventure. According to the Hollywood Reporter spoke to the show’s creative team and it seems like they are looking for at least three actors to add to this sci-fi thriller and play characters new to Hawkins named Max, Roman, and Billy. Both Max and Roman are billed as series regulars, while Billy is listed as a potential series regular.

Max is a tough and confident 13-year-old female whose appearance, behavior, and pursuits are more typical of boys than of girls in the era. She has a complicated history and a difficult relationship with her stepbrother, Billy, that’s made her protective of her past and generally suspicious of those around her. She’s also good on a skateboard, which she uses to get around pretty much everywhere.

Billy is a super muscular, overconfident 17-year-old. He’s so captivating and edgy that there are rumors flying around that he killed someone at a school he attended in the past. Billy steals peoples’ girlfriends, is a drinking game pro and drives a black Camaro. But his violent and unpredictable nature shows itself to those closest to him, especially to ones who are younger than he is.

Roman, meanwhile, is described as a male or a female of any ethnicity between the ages of 30 and 38. After growing up homeless with a drug-addicted mother, he or she suffered a great loss at an early age and has been seeking revenge ever since. Roman is ultimately an outsider who doesn’t understand how to connect with people.

The show has confirmed the returns of Winona Ryder (Joyce), Finn Wolfhard (Mike), and Gaten Matarazzo (Dustin), but left the fate of Eleven up in the air. However, the second season will introduce the four new characters, and a setting outside of Hawkins, Indiana.

Stranger Things Season 2 premieres on Netflix in summer 2017.
